Fishing & Boating:
Patagonia Lake State Park/(520)287-6965, located 20 miles from Sonoita and Parker Canyon Lake/(520) 455-5847, located 17 miles from Sonoita provide excellent facilities for boating and fishing.

Camping:
The Coronado National Forest is available for limited, unimproved camping. Also, Parker Canyon Lake/(520) 455-5847, Patagonia Lake State Park/(520)287-6965 provides both RV and campsite facilities. The Patagonia RV Park/(520) 394-2491 provides full hook-ups.

Birding:
There are many exceptional parks and preserves where birdwatchers can see some of the rare and exotic birds that make their way into Arizona's Southeastern corner. They are The Nature Conservancy's Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve/(520) 394-2400, The Nature Conservancy's Ramsey Canyon Preserve/(520) 378-2785, Madera Canyon/(520) 625-8746, Empire Cienga Ranch/(520) 455-5522 and The San Pedro Riparian Nature Conservation Area/(520) 459-2555.

Golfing:
Three beautiful golf courses are open to the public including Kino Springs/(520) 287-8800, Rio Rico Resort & Golf Course/(520) 281-1901, and Tubac Country Club/(520) 398-2211.

Backroading, Hiking & Bicycling:
There are countless jeep trails, Forest Service roads, old mining roads and trails that will lead you to beautiful backroad countryside and breathtaking vistas. Some old roads require four-wheel drive vehicles. A special treat for hikers is the Arizona Trail, an historic trail that weaves its way through the state.

Horseback Riding:

If you'd like to bring your own horses during your stay at the Sonoita Inn, stabling is available at reasonable rates less than a quarter mile from the inn. Call us for rates and availability.

Wineries:
Southern Arizona wines are steadily gaining repute for producing a variety of award-winning varietals. Five vineyards are found in the Sonoita Valley. They are Callaghan Vineyards/(520) 455-5322, Dos Cabezas Wineworks/(520) 455-5285, Santa Cruz Winery/(520) 394-2888, Sonoita Vineyards/(520) 455-5893 and The Village of Elgin Winery/(520) 455-9309. Several others are located in nearby communities including Fort Bowie Vineyard/(520) 847-2593, Kokopelli Winery/(520) 384-3800, Paradise Valley Winery/(520) 384-388 and R.W. Sightseeing & Shopping:
Many historical and cultural communities are located near Sonoita which provide excellent sightseeing and shopping opportunities. Tubac and Tumacacori have historic Jesuit missions and an abundance of galleries with unique Southwestern art, Tombstone is famous for its wild-west architecture and shoot-outs and Bisbee's Lavendar Pit Copper Mine and Victorian architecture remind us of mining days gone by replaced by a burgeoning artist community whose work fills the many galleries that line the streets today. Located just 30 miles from Mexico, it's a quick trip from Sonoita to Nogales, Sonora where south-of-the-border arts, crafts and music abound. San Raphael Valley, one of the few undeveloped high elevation grasslands in the United States is just 20 miles from the Sonoita Inn. Here you'll see pristine views of mountains and valleys that stretch far into Mexico.
